What is a good gift for my realtor and mortgage broker?

As first-time homeowners, they have helped us for the past 3 years to repair our credit from a low score of 540 to our present 780. They have helped us with purchase decision-making with cars, etc over the years as to make sure we don't hurt our own credit. We are getting ready to close on our first home and we would like to buy them both something nice. Do you think a decent sized gift card to a nice restaurant would be ok?

What is a good gift for my realtor and mortgage broker?
That is so nice that you were thinking of getting your lender and Realtor a gift. Honestly, the BEST gift you can give has nothing to do with money.

I totally disagree with the butthead who said they laughed all the way to the bank and made 10K off of you. They paid it forward for 3 whole yrs and COACHED you into a better lifestyle. They probably changed your future forever by helping you through this.

Yes, they made good money closing your home, but they took the time to work with YOU, and not just chase after the people who are ready with great credit (and there is plenty). That is admirable.

You should write them a heartfelt testimonial, REFER them to your other friends who are renters with low credit, and be loyal to them with future buys and sells. Now THAT is the best gift you could ever give.

Working in this business every day, its refreshing to see someone who appreciates the hard work honest Realtors and lenders put in.

As a Realtor we do not want your gift, we want your loyalty. Any good agent who is in this business for the right reasons will tell you that.

Congrats, homeowner!!!!
Reply:Contrary to popular belief, there is no Realtor or Mortgage Broker born that can help someone raise their credit score. The individual consumer raises their own credit score with more responsible credit behavior, regardless of the "tricks" such industry people say they know. When I used to regulate banks with the Federal Reserve, I always got a kick out of brokers and Realtors that held themselves out as financial advisers as that is expressly against the law.

In your case, though, it sounds like these people have actually helped educate you on how to improve your credit. Since they make money selling money, if you have taken loans from them, you need give them no gift. The gift was given in the form of commission. If you buy a home from them or did buy a home, they both made ten grand (probably)each on your deal. I think that's a pretty nice gift, don't you?

So be careful, if they have been genuinely helpful, a polite thank you card should do the trick. If you want to toss in a dinner on a gift certificate or something, then that's up to you and is more a reflection of your class and good taste than of anything else.

Take it easy.
Reply:A thank you card and maybe some flowers would be perfectly okay. You are giving them a huge (and I'm sure it is huge) commission - your mortgage person probably 2% of the loan and then the realtor is at least getting 3%. They should be getting you something for the thousands and thousands of dollars they are making off you and your loan.
Reply:Gift Card.... No... Post Card ..Yes

The best gift...Write a good testimonial expressing your feelings and the benefits you get from their work.

and recommend their services to your network....

Thanks

Reply:Your real estate agent probably made at least 10 thousand bucks off of you. They already made ton of money. There's no need to buy them anything. They've already laughed all the way to the bank. Are you that naive?
Reply:refer your friends to them.
Reply:hi

A great idea for a personal and unique gift is a handmade painting made from a photo that you send.

The prices are reasonable and the outcome is amazing.
Reply:yes they are both making a lot of money on you closing this deal for your first house, very thoughtful of you to think of doing that for them
Reply:The best thing you can do for your mortgage consultant is give them referral. This will continue your relationship with the mortgage consultant making it well worth your while.
Reply:or write them a letter, telling them everything you've told us, and how you appreciate their help.

or a really nice pen, since they are both in a business where theyhave to write a lot.
Reply:Thats what I was going to suggest, even though it was their job that would be a very nice thank you gift
