What are some unique gift bag ideas for new volunteers?

I'm hosting a volunteer training and wanted to give out gift bags to my new volunteers? I want it to be nice, not cheesy? What are some unique ideas to show my appreciation for their time and effort?

What are some unique gift bag ideas for new volunteers?
Well, I could give more specific ideas if you shared a bit about your organization, the type of volunteers you have, what kind of hours/commitment they've contributed (or will).

I've found that volunteer appreciation presents that were most loved were ones from my heart. I've made sea star (replicas) tree ornaments (for museum tour guides). I've made crystal light catchers for church volunteers. I've done seed embedded paper for natural history museum volunteers.

It's fun to reflect the organization; afterall they must be choosing that organization for a reason. Mostly it's about the heart space with which anything is given.

Good Luck!!!

ANSWER ADDENDUM: Well, hospice work though rewarding is tough. There might be a lovely gift that could help them with the actual volunteering position as well. Something like a journal or a book to collect memories of people who they've made connections with. I'm not certain of the level of contact they'll have with those who may be making their transitions soon but it could be helpful.

One to work on creating for the furture is to gather snapshots of your volunteers/clients and make a calendar.

Something with a sense of humor is great too. Hospice work can be so heavy!!!

Music would be great too.

A book on grief.

A handwritten card is always appreciated!

Just a couple off the top of my head. Again, good luck and thank you for your service!
Reply:what are they volunteering for?

Maybe candles, tea, coffee, with a mug in it, chocolate cover any fruits, or just any kind of good chocolate, brownies, cookies, or nuts. =]
